New and Impressed with my F150
A year and a bit ago I needed to buy a truck. purchased a new Jayco tow behind and started looking for a truck. I have had numerous different types not specific to one brand but this has been my first Ford. My last truck was a GMC Sierra LTZ with a 5.3l. I stumbled across a 2013 F150 XLT XTR that had only 4000km on it and the gentleman that owned it was leaving the country. He bought it in Oct 2013 and owned it for only 6 months. Had extended warranty and Ford plus service contract. The deal was right so I bought it. Last summer we camped numerous places around western canada and it worked great. I was getting about 13L/100km average not towing and about 22L/100km towing our trailer. I started thinking I would like to do a few mods to this truck not two extreme but just to differentiate from the gazillion other F150's out there. I powder coated some of the chrome bits, installed a Bakflip 2 cover, found some like new Raptor wheels on Kijiji and put some bigger Toyo tires on them, had Rancho front suspension installed which gave it about a 2" level. From there I installed a Magnaflow catback exhaust, a Boss 302 intake with AFE Cold air and had it tuned for 87 octane and towing. With the bigger tires and mods the truck now gets about 14.5l/100km average not towing and a remarkable 18.5L/100kms when I do tow. I find that in 5th gear at about 2-2100rpm I can get this kind of mileage. 100KMs per hour. My truck has 3.55 gears. We find this truck extremely comfortable, and fun to drive. When I step on the gas now the unit absolutely hauls ***. Love it to pieces and thought I would share. Much better truck then the GMC and the Dodge I had in the past.
