New F-150 Owner
Hello. I just bought a 2004 F-150 Lariat 4x4. It had 146,000+ miles on the 5.4. I had a 1996 Ranger for 192k miles and it was very useful and trustworthy. I bought it new and drove it all over the country, but I wanted a bigger truck with 4x4.
I had been scowering the internet for a new truck. Then, I just happened upon this truck near my home. It was well taken care of.
There are a number of problems with it which I hope / plan to alleviate. Most seem to be minor such as the memory seat, elec mirror control, and pedal movement. Thanks to doing some research on this site, I think I'll be changing the oil to 5w30 soon.
Less than a week after purchasing it, I took it on long road trip and it handled the trip without any problems. Thankfully!!
I have some ideas about customizing it to make it fit my needs better. These include getting rid of the ridiculous bed liner and putting in Monstaliner, those plastic bedliners are way too slippery. Since the bumpers have a bit of rust showing through, I may use Monstaliner products to refinish them, but I am not sure about thatt yet.
I am considering some engine enhancements items as well, such as a power programmer. And maybe air intake and exhaust enhancements. So the threads on this site seem to be useful for deciding directions to go.
There was a thread I read, and should have bookmarked it, about interior LED lights. The light for the shifter is not working and I wouldn't mind upgrading the others to LED. The thread I read listed a couple of possible places to get such lights. Searching for that thread again has not been successful.
At any rate, I am glad to have a resource like f150forum.
