Default Love my truck....sometimes

92 f150 5.0 lifted I've put blood, sweat and tears into it. Had my motor rebuilt, replaced everything under the hood. All new brake and fuel system. After 5k my engine starts ticking-header leak: fixed....keeps ticking-bad lifter: replaced....keeps ticking- now I'm pissed! Should I try again or buy a used motor and take my losses??? Help please!

Start with adjusting the valves to be correct. Take the left valve cover off, start it up. If its coming from under that cover, its gonna be much louder. If its coming from the right one, you'll know it. Get a feeler gauge (not the disc type, get the "finger" kind). You can find guides on the internet about how to adjust the valves properly. Some do it with it running, some don't. I'm not sure the best way to do it on a 5.0.

Don't buy a new motor or anything yet. Chances are this is an easy fix. Also get this thread moved to the 1987-1996 section. We can help you a lot more over there.

Ok fellas.....bottom end is kaput! Should of guessed it wasn't gonna last when every time I went to check the rebuild progress the machinist was drunk. The wife is pissed but I'm not giving up on my truck. I figure since I'm gonna rebuild again I might as well go with gt-40p heads, performance cam and maf swap. What do you guys think?
