I have a 2007 Sport Trac, V6 that backfires when it is started shortly after it is turned off. The dealership seems to know about the problem and say they can do nothing to fix it. They will not give me a contact in Ford I can discuss the problem with. Can any one help me either fix this or contact Ford.

Your truck backfires (which is not normal) and the dealership is telling you they can do nothing about it? Not sure how to fix your truck problem, but I'd be down there everyday complaining about the problem, talk to the service manager and the business manager. Tell the you're going to file a complaint thru the BBB.

There are many things to check if it's backfiring.

I would start by checking your timing and the distributor or it could be that you might need to get the computer reprogrammed.

Also I would check the throttle body and the MAF sensor to see if they need cleaning. Check those and let us know. Usually a dirty MAF and dirty throttle body will cause a backfire.

Hope this helps!!!
