I did a search for F-150 forums or boards and this came up. I am looking for help. I hooked a trailor up to my truck, and while I was driving, my back up lamps went out. I hooked up a volt meter after checking the bulbs and fuses, and found out there is no voltage going through the wire. Is this a problem with wiring or with the fuse panel box? Trying to figure it out and have spent a week off and on trying to get it fixed. Any ideas? Bulbs and fuses have all been replaced.

Did you have to wire up the trailer harness on the truck or is it factory? If it's factory and it happened when you plugged the trailer up to the truck then I would think it has to be a fuse or a relay you may have overlooked.

I really doubt it was a fuse or relay, when I went through each and every fuse and relay, in both the inside cab, and the auxilliary fuse box thats under the hood. The bulbs are not blown, and the voltmeter was dead when I hooked it into the connector for the light. But, when I plugged the voltmeter into the brake lights connector, I had juice, so I know the voltmeter wasn't busted. I just want to know, if I have to replace the wiring, whats the stock gauge for the wiring? If I have to replace the entire fuse panel, how much is that gonna run me, and where can I get it from. The auto parts places around where I live all looked at me like I was redneck tattooed trailer trash when I asked them. Both Mainstream stores and the little family run garages .. I am at a loss here. As for the wiring, so far as I am aware, the only wiring that is on the truck that isn't stock, was the wiring for my topper.

I seriously doubt your fuse panel or the wires are bad, maybe the reason you got the funny looks from the parts store. Unless you have a wire schematic your looking at it blind. I wish I could help but I don't have one for your truck that I can look at to give you any direction. If you have an understanding of electrical (DC voltage) go buy a electrical manual for your truck. Other wise I would have a shop look at it. This way you don't buy something that's not needed and end up spending more than you would have to let someone else fix it in the first place.

Well due to an aversion to electricity that I have. I am going to get it to a shop as soon as I can. The aversion to electricity is from getting shocked one too many times. So as it stands now, I don't even change out batteries to the remote control to the TV if I don't have too...

I guess I wasn't paying any intension when I was replying to this but I do have the OEM electrical manual for my 05 and it should be the same as yours If I can dig it up tomorrow I'll look at it and see what I can find to help you. I have it boxed up as I'm doing some remodeling in my house. Hopefully I can find out what box it's in

Well, I live in the Bible belt, so there aren't many places that are open on Sunday here. So, sure if you get a chance, that would be cool, otherwise after I get it back from the shop, I can post the results on here, so if anyone else has a problem similar to mine, it might be able to shortcut the troubleshooting process.
