Hi, I'm a newbie!
Hi, everyone. I found this site doing research on purchasing of a F-150. The site looks very informative. Can't wait to get in some reading and posting time. Looking at purchasing a 2006 with the 5.4L engine. Does anyone think that I will have any trouble pulling a 7500 lbs travel trailer with this truck? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome!!!
You should beable to pull that trailer fine with the truck, but how often do you plan on pulling it?
Make sure you get the 5.4 v8 if your pulling that heavy of a trailer.

I plan on getting the 5.4 engine. I would say I would be towing the trailer maybe twice a month. Not real far trips maybe up to 100 miles from home per trip.

Truck should be fine. I was just curious how often, because if it was more often a diesel would be the better option.
If you want some extra towing power after buying the truck, you can always get a CAI, Exhaust and a tuner/programmer. EDGE or Gryphon would definitely help when towing!!

Thanks AZFX4! Some extra power has never hurt any one, has it?
I have been told that going from the 3:55 gear to the 3:73 gears should bump the tow capactiy buy about a 1000lbs. Is this correct? It makes sence that it would I guess because you would have more low end pull.

It will give you more low end but I don't believe it actually gives you 1,000lbs you can pull. Your stock gross weight you can pull stock is what is safe for your vehical period. Nothing can make you pull more weight and be safe.
If I'm wrong, someone could correct me.
If you have 3.55ls now and your thinking of regearing to 3.73ls, that's $1800 that I don't think is worth it. That's if your 4wd, if your 2wd it'll be half that since you only have the rearend to change. You could get a Gryphon for $400, and it'll definitely make a difference for much cheaper!

It's a rebadged EDGE made for Bill at PHP so he can do custom tunes on it. So if you get other aftermarket engine mods it will help to get custom tunes.

Welcome to the forum. I have a 04 and do a lot of heavy towing. Pulls great. Would like to have the Gryphon. But selling the truck soon to put money in my other F-150`s. Too many toys not enough money.
