Default Help requested from female truck owners for dissertation project

My name is Chris Lezotte and I am currently a doctoral student in American Culture Studies at Bowling Green State University conducting research for my dissertation. The project focuses on women whose vehicle choices suggest they do not conform to prevailing assumptions regarding the “woman driver.” One of the automotive categories I am interested in is the pickup truck. If you are a female owner of one of these vehicles, and have about 30 minutes to spare, I would greatly appreciate your input. I believe the relationship between women and cars has not received enough attention in the auto industry and scholarship; my goal in this project is to uncover the voices and automotive experiences of women such as yourself who use and relate to motor vehicles in a variety of interesting and sometimes unexpected ways.

If you have an interest in contributing to this project, I will provide you with consent form, which outlines the project and assures confidentiality. As your participation will take the form of an interview, I will also ask you to indicate whether your preference for that interview is by phone or email. If you would like to participate in this project, or if would like additional information about it, please feel free to contact me via email at clezott@bgsu.edu.

Sincerely,

Chris Lezotte

Welcome from SoCal. Your study sounds interesting but I think you'll find there's no gender bias in truck owners, at least in Southern California. Good luck with your study.

Default Dissertation project

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. Regarding this project, I am not really looking for gender bias in truck culture, but rather, am interested in how women use trucks and what trucks mean to the women who drive them.

I'll be happy to share my results once the dissertation is completed.

Chris, you may get more responses if you post this in the actual truck sections of the forum, ex. 2009 - Present F150. I don't think the Mods will have any problem with that. There are sections for each generation of truck. I know it's a lot of typing, but you have a great subject there. I would be interested in the results. Good luck.

Also, if your not already aware of this there are several F-150 forums along with forums relating to many truck brands out there.

What are some other F150 forums? And truck forums? I will be looking for women to join my women truck page I plan to create.
