Hello from Torrance, CA
Hey, all...
Just joined up here, hoping to learn a bit about the new F-150 here.
I am in the market for a new vehicle, and have so far been in the market for a 2015 Ford Fiesta SE sedan, but when my father and I visited the local Ford dealership yesterday, I fell in love with the new 2015 F-150 XL... Ford did such an awesome job of redesigning the truck! The new tailgate area looks so nice, and the front is boss. I like the new interior, as well.
I have been a fan of the F-150 since I first test-drove one, a 2007 F-150 XL. At the time, my father had a Ford Ranger which I had ridden in, and wasn't a fan of the pretty rough ride... I don't like feeling every bump in the road. But when I test-drove that 2007 XL, I was very pleasantly surprised at how smooth and soft it rode, and how quiet it was. I also fell in love with the higher ride height.
Until these new 2015's, the 2007 generation of the F-150 was my favorite body style. But man, is the 2015 beautiful! I would REALLY love to get an F-150 for a few reasons...
One, as stated above, I became enamored with the taller ride height... after having driven cars all my life, I feel that I would now like to be able to see above traffic when I drive, as so many folks now drive trucks and SUV's that impede my view of the traffic and road ahead of me. Two, I am planning on moving to Dallas, TX early next year, and everything I would take with me would fit in the bed of the truck, so I wouldn't need to pay for a U-Haul or anything like that. Three, I love the utility that comes with owning a truck... it's a lot more versatile than a car. Finally, I have never had a truck before, so why not try something new? I want a Ford because I want to buy American, and I respect the fact that Ford didn't take any bailout money.
My current daily driver is a 2005 Ford Focus ZX3, and I also own a 1987 Mercedes 300E. Before that, I had a 1985 Mercedes 190E 2.3 and a 1982 Mercedes 240D. My father currently drives a 2015 GMC Canyon, but before that, he had two Ford Rangers (I forget the exact model years). I am only interested in the XL trim level... white with cloth interior. I don't need any frills... just basic transportation and utility.
I'm planning to wait until early next year to buy, so that hopefully the prices on the 2015's will come down a bit, as they make room for the new 2016's.
