Started out with a 97 f150 from my grandpa when I turned 16, now at 20 I dumped my savings from working all summer to get myself into a more respectable, better looking truck! I purchased a 2010 F150 XLT from a 78 year old guy who just moved back to Minnesota from living in Arizona for the last 20 years. This truck has yet to see a flake of snow much less all the salt we use in the winter up here! Very clean interior other than sun damage to the steering wheel, the exterior is nice but you can tell the previous owner had a couple "senior moments" while pulling into parking spots (cracked plastic on the grill, couple small dings on the front and rear bumpers) but hey I'm extremely happy with my purchase and figure it's a truck if it ends up bothering me I can always get some new bumper covers and a grill.

Took my new truck through the car wash for the first time today and I looked back halfway through the wash and there was a waterfall coming from the back glass!!!! Is this a common problem? What should I do to fix this, I park outside so this semi urgent because they're are talking about chance of rain this weekend
Any help would be much appreciated

Go get you some clear or black rtv silicone (your choice) I prefer clear and run a bead around the third brake light. I have a 2010 with a ruined headliner and stained leather from this problem. I even put a bead around the back glass and on and around the rivets and brackets on roof and might as well get the sirius/gps antenna while your up there lol! But usually the leak is coming from a faulty 3rd brake light seal.

Is rtv different than silicon that you use on exterior windows and doors? Cause I have a tube of clear literally sitting in a bag on the passenger seat for work tomorrow haha

haha right on! And yea I think they're the same thing the rtv stuff may just dry faster not totally sure though. either way I used the same stuff your talking about on mine. I think I used some GE outdoor window sealant on mine as i discovered mine had this little problem during the worst 2 weeks of rain TX has ever had. I put the stuff on outside during torrential rain and it sealed it up instantly and did not leak any more for the rest of the great flood lol! I'm lifted so putting it in a garage and applying dry was not an option, but I'm sure it will make it a cleaner final product if it is dry and just take your time! I haven't had another problem since my emergency rush job wish I would have made laid it a little cleaner though!

Awesome! Thanks! I googled it and didn't really see any difference but I can just as easily swing by the parts store and see if they know if there's a difference. Did you take the brake light off and seal behind it like a gasket or just go around the outside of it?

Yea I actually did pull the brake light and put a fat bead in the ridge on the backside but while i was doing it I was kinda thinking it was pointless and that the bead around the top of the light would probably be more than enough, which it definately was because I went full retard with the silicone now I'm pretty sure its sealed to a nuclear blast! Better safe than sorry though I guess. The only good thing about putting silicone behind the light is when you have it pulled you can pull the bulbs and clean all the nasty **** from the back side of the lens mine was nice and moldy lol! had a lot of crap behind it that i didn't notice before.

And I think its just 2 phillips or flathead screws to pull the light I'm about to run out to my truck an check right now.

Just checked it out and its only 2 phillips head screws and another thing I forgot to add is when your sealin her up dont forget to put a bunch of silicone over and all around the screw heads. Mine are completely covered to where I can barely tell whether it is a flat head or phillips lol!

Went to the parts store and got some rvt this morning, they said rvt sticks to paint, foam and other surfaces better then clear caulking. Took the brake light off and put a bead around the openings behind that, then covered the rivets on top too. Decide to test it first before I go around the back glass.
