Default Better Mileage

Just bought a 2004 F150 and I want to try and get better mileage by changing the muffler and air filter. Can anyone tell me what they think of gaining mileage by replacing these two items?

Combined you are looking at gaining 2-3 more MPG's.

Nice to have you here.

Can you really gain 2 to 3 MPG by filter and exhaust? If so its a done deal for me.

Just remember you're going to spend about $700 combined. How longs it going to take you to recoup that money in fuel savings? Years, that's how long. I'm all for modding, but do it for the increased performance and not to squeeze out a few extra mpg's.

I agree, but fast cars are my hobby. The mod bug sank its teeth into me many many years ago. I told myself that I would not go crazy modding the truck. Simple dress up modds only, the drive train would stay stock. But if I can squeez some mpg's out of it, maybe I'll have to change my mind.
Never got any extra mpg's modding my cars but then again I cant keep my foot out of them either.

You won't get any extra mpg's out of modding your truck if this continues.

Welcome to the show!

Sorry for the late welcome. It was a busy week playing catch up for the short week! Then a whole lot of family time!
