Default First Ford Truck Ever

Actually I should say first Ford vehicle ever. I bought a 2006 F150 Lariat Crew Cab with 77K miles today. I've been looking at trucks for a while and decided to sell my Jeep Wrangler and get a truck. Initially I was looking only at Tundras as we've always had Yotas, Hondas or Nissans and had good results with all. I then realized that to find a Toyota in the price range I wanted to stay in that was a 2007 or newer would require buying one with a billion miles or a sketchy history. It wasn't easy finding an F150 with the same criteria, other than there just seemed to be more F150's in general available.

Once I expanded my potential truck list I ruled out Dodge due to lower resell values and advice from other truck owners at work, and GMC due to just a personal thing with the whole bail out BS that happened.

I researched Fords and of course saw that the F series was the #1 selling truck series for a while. I always liked the body style of the 2004-2008 and the newest body styles also.

So I looked, and looked, and looked..... drove some out of my price range just to get a feel for them. Several times I found a truck with under 100K miles in my price range but they always were gone by the time I found them.....until today.

I found an 06 F150 Lariat CC with 77K miles at one of the area Ford dealerships. I called to verify it was there as the dealership is about an hour from home. We drove over and got there and the salesman couldn't find it on their inventory list or in the lot. I was pissed as I had made the drive and figured it was already sold or sold since I called earlier in the day. The salesman went to check in the detail area while I was telling my wife how unhappy I was that we wasted a trip....until I see this burgundy F150 pull up. I knew that was it because it had a big camper shell on it (soon to come off!) It was still there! I test drove it and checked out everything and knew that would be the truck. Carfax showed one owner and it had spent its life in the Pensacola area. It was very clean on the inside, outside had a few minor dings, nothing out of the ordinary for a 7 year old truck. We haggled for a little bit on the price, but I got it int he range I wanted to be at. I asked for replacing the spark plugs and new front and rear Ford emblems....I got the emblems but no dice on the tune up at the price I got it for, oh well.

I've attached a few pics I was able to snap today while we were doing paperwork. They are keeping it to finish detailing it and completing the inspection as it was barely on the lot a day or two. Final sale is contingent on me receiving a satisfactory inspection report. I'm excited to get it home and get the camper shell off!

I'll be lurking and I'm sure I'll have some newb questions as I've never owned a Ford vehicle.
