The black sensor is what was in the original trans and the white sensor was in the new trans. Tried both than bought a new black one

If you look in post 10, I think your issue is right there. Seeing as the new trans had a white sensor, that tells me your ring gear (that the OSS sensor reads off of) is the wrong one. It won't matter which sensor you try, the PCM is looking for the input effect of the black sensor in conjunction with the 6 reluctor holes.

Do you happen to know the numbers off of the ID tag for the new trans?

Not off hand until I crawl under it tomorrow, so if pcm is searching for the holes could I get a pcm from a 5.4 and make it work? Or have to go the longer harder route and change the gear?

Hmmm.... that is one thing I have not dealt with. I'm not too sure on that.
