i recently bought a 2000 single short with the 4.2L 6 popper. iv had the 4.6 and 5.0 in my last 3 trucks. i dont really know what to expect with this engine, its got 94k on it and it was used by the county as a building inspecters truck. Has anybody had any problems with them as far as mechanical breakdowns and such?

im really proud to say i drive a ford. this is my 4th and im only 19. my last truck actually saved my life. i totalled it and i walked away from it with a concusion and a crushed ear. my head was thrown through the sliding rear window. the truck held up suprisingly well though. i can honestly say ill never drive anything but a ford!

Welcome. Glad you were not seriously injured. The V6 is a dependable motor though a little under powered.

yeah i found that part out when i test drove it. not even close to the 5.4 or even the 4.6.... i should be ok though, iv had my fun with my trucks now im looking for dependability and a little more mpg...
