2015 F150 Build - 1.5" Fabtech Level & BFG KO2's
Hello,
I am the proud owner of a 2015, F150 Lariat. I wanted a mild level kit installed and found all my research ended with threads to the great group here on this forum so, I decided to become a member for future reference and databases on any number of issues that come up as you all know as well as give my build details to the next guy so I can payback some of you super users. What a wealth of information and knowledge you all have and share!
Thanks to all the 2015 owners who provide detailed information on their builds.
Here is mine;
I wanted a tame level kit that left me with meaty tires and some rake for towing, etc.. After much research I decided on 1.5" Fabtech level kit, 275/65R20 BFG KO2'S, stock rims. Post install today, I have zero rubbing issues and because I used stock rims with the same width tire, zero issues on UCA. I have room for mud guards in the future if decide on that.
Details:
-The Fabtech 1.5" level kit netted only 13/16" to 15/16" total height gain!
-The stock tires to new tires gained 1-1/8" diameter (overall height)
-Front and back measurements to top and centre of fender wells
stock - 37-1/8" & 40-3/8"
post install - 38-13/16" & 41-3/8"
If you do the math, this still leaves a ~2-9/16" rake which is exactly what I was after. I love it and am happy with the outcome.
Power:
I was concerned about power going with a larger wheel. These BFG's are +18 lbs per heavier than the stock Hankook. Day one I noticed a slight decrease in power off hard acceleration. It picks right up after 2000 rpm and highway speeds there is zero indication of power loss.
Fuel Efficiency:
Concerned here too but not enough miles to relay great info. After one full day of driving minimal impact and have not changed off my average 14.3 L/100 for life of truck (8110 km). I will post more info in future as I have it. Currently running 36 psi so I have some wiggle room if I start to see some impact.
Thanks goes out to the parts/service at my local Ford dealership helping me through this and parting me with more money, lol.
I will try to post pics.
Thanks again to all the users posting great information.

Thanks for the great detail, truck looks great!
Just curious though, did you calibrate your speedometer for the new tire size? If not, your fuel economy won't be accurate either.
It's possible your speedo will be very close to accurate now, as they're usually off from factory. I'd check it with a GPS to see how close it is now.

Thank you.
Dealership told me this was too close to calibrate and would not be accurate so didn't pursue further. Based on my GPS I am about 3-4% off proper calibration.
I will inquire next oil change if others have had success getting it closer.
Cheers

Fuel consumption update:
After a 900 km trip (one i have done before in this truck under same driving conditions) following efficiency was calculated:
- Speedo still out by 5% on open highway and power loss s described above still noted.
- Fuel consumption went from 12.3 l/100km (19.12 mpg) on trip 1 to 13.7 l/100 km (17.17). These numbers account for the 5% variance on speedo.
Regards

I am running 38 psii.
The ride quality on highway is negligible but rougher roads I do notice a little more "jump" in the system and it was a little is rougher.
I am really happy still with the upgrade and system.!
Hope this helps.

Nice!!
Hello
That looks great!
I recently bought a new 2015 f 150 scab fx4, I am not ready to do a full lift and like you have decided the fab 1.5 may be the best option for now. Could you tell me if the cv axle angle is of concern. I still have my 98 f150 5.4 scab and the leveling kit on that truck was the cause for me to become an expert at changing the cv axles. I can do em in 45 mins, with my air tools and hand tools laid out. Lol
Best regards.

Canuckle Head - Your truck looks look great, and i am looking to do a similar build on my 2016 KR.
Now that you have had the truck built out for a few months, can you speak to the ride, handling, and mpg's now that everything has settled?
Thanks again for the detailed post.
