Hi,

Just picked up a 2003 F150 7700 Series CNG Hybrid with 8' bed, with a Triton 5.4 liter with 245 / 75 R 16 with 16x7 7 bolt rims. I was told that it has a wet rear axle and it was set up for heavy hauling.

Someone else said that he considers these trucks to be "light" duty F250's.

I would like to know exactly what do I have. I do not have an Owners Manual, wish I did. It says GVW 7700 on the door jam. Is that maximum tow capacity?

Hi and welcome. That is you Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. So the weight of your truck and everything else in it should not exceed 7,700 pounds. That would also include the hitch weight if you have a trailer hooked up. It sounds like you have an increased payload capacity from maybe something like the max tow package or the HD package. I am not sue about the 2003 model year, but I believe the current gen trucks with the max tow package have something like a 7,700 GVWR. There are lots of good threads on here that explain all of this in way better detail. Search and I am sure you will find them. Also there is a VIN decoder tool on the forum. I haven't used that yet but I think that may give you some more information about your truck. Good luck and enjoy.
