Default Is Xzilon worth it?

I just traded in a 2011 F150 XLT on a 2012 FX-4 (tranny issues led to lemon law claim and I got a real good deal on the 2012) and the dealer tried to sell me Xzilon as a once every five year wax alternative. I enjoy waxing my truck but she made it sound like this stuff was the holy grail of paint protection.

Has anyone ever used it? Does it really last for five years? I have noticed a properly waxed vehicle is easier to wash than an unwaxed one. The dealer says Xzilon is even better at this.

Any real world input is welcome.

Heres what i would do... Go to a different eealership and ask for a couple of the bottles.

Then wax it yourself. If there is anything i would get... It would be the scotch guarding on seats and flooring, then undercoating.

Buy the stuff at the parts dept, and i would forget about rust protection..... Its just yellow vaseline shoved and plugs the drain holes in the doors.

Just my opinion.

I've read a few articles on the product from detailers. they seem to like the product but the dealership price on it is more for the warranty than the actual product. By having xzilon installed by the dealership, the paint is warrantied against oxidation and fading for 5 years; but there are loopholes in the system that don't allow most people to cash in on the warranty if something goes wrong with their paint.

The loopholes are that in the fine print, it says the warranty is void if you use a brush carwash or any not touchless carwash system...hand wash is ok. The way the dealership can tell if the car has been voided is by the pattern of scratches or swirls marks on the paint. Also no paintwork correction can be done outside the dealership.

Overall, the interior xzilon protection is outstanding, the paint protection is equivalent to a good sealant, and the price is for the warranty not the product itself.

IMHO - Purchase a DA, pads, polishes and learn to do it yourself.

I don't think it's worth paying the dealership that kind of price, but if you really want it buy it MUCH cheaper and apply it yourself, would definitely be better.
