no need to wax it, wax the paint only.

You can use colonite. ..or turtle wax ice wax..either one is safe on plastic or vinyl. . That's what I use..keeps UV off the vinyl to protect it

If you do use either Ice or Collinite on your stripes be sure to use it SPARINGLY!
Others here have reported difficulty getting it off the stripes, but it would be my bet they likely used too much.....I do think that the Collinite is much easier, with a lot less residue, to remove than the Ice is.

I should have specified. Colonite as mentioned use sparingly. . Could be harder to take off if you don't watch it.
Turtle wax ice. .says right on the label leaves no white residual and goes on and off..super easy

Not to hijack, but am I correct in my assumption that the Collinite 845 can be applied on the black plastic pieces like the TW Ice product and not turn it white?

I have used several different brands of typical car wax on my appearance pkg stripes with no issue. Mostly Meguiar's.

You definietly want to put some kind of wax on them to keep them from drying out and peeling/ cracking.

I've always just waxed right over them like they're part of the paint. No issues.

I was mostly concerned with white or streaky residue

I use Collinite 845 on all of my black plastic surfaces and it wipes off without leaving any white residue.
