I figured that this was the best place to post this.

Have a bunch of sap on my hood and am planning to get it of this weekend. I had a plan and after trying to get rid of one spot tonight if went back to the drawing board. Went through a bunch of posts and have some better ideas.

My question is have any of you guys ended up with like a shadow in the paint after the sap was removed.

I used bug and tag remover tonight (didnt work the best) but took off the sap. After wiping it clean with a microfiber towel its like there was a shadow or dark spot where the sap was.

Ill have a better look in the morning in some better light but has anyone else had this happen?

Get a rag and soak it with rubbing alcohol and press it on the spots. Then pour the alcohol on the rag and keep it saturated. After a minute you can scratch it away with your finger nail

I have cleaned sap off of my white hood and saw the same effect. I used a bit of clay, and polish and it took it out. Since clear cost is technically like a plastic, it can become stained on the surface. The clay helps to pull out any of the staining that embedded itself on to the surface. The polish will take away any of the stuff that is just below the surface and blend in the area with the surrounding clear coat so there will be no discernible difference between that area, and the rest of the clear coat. Hope that helps and is not too late.

Thanks good to know Im not the only one. The truck definitely needs to be clayed.

I ended up getting alcohol pads from the drug store worked like a charm and the best part was I got 100 pack for $2. So basically for free if you are in the states haha.
