What enters my mind is what is the purpose of the post? Asking for advice? Complaining about the appearance of a "wear item" that isn't going to look pretty no matter what?

I was hoping someone might reply with a tip of where to get a decent quality ball that didn't rust solid in 6 months. I will probably look for a ball cover. I guess I should have been more clear

Get an old tennis ball, cut it open and put it on there.

Smile Chrome Paint

It's hard to find good trailer hitches with decent chrome finishes on. I live in the rust belt where they spray down the roads with calcium chloride (awful stuff should outlaw it). So my otherwise good chrome trailer hitch did the same thing, even though it was a reese. (who makes a good one, I don't know) Try to get most of the rust off, but I successfully used a chrome spray paint, let it dry and used it again, 3 coats. It will last for 3 or 4 months, then I touch it up again if it needs it.
