Not my F150, but a buddy suffered through the dealer taking a brush to his truck for a "courtesy wash". Hit it with Ultimate Compound and got it back to zero, finished with two coats of Collinite 845.

Ok guys. I finally bought my 845! I plan to get started on all 3 of my vehicles which are dark colors. Truck is bright red, mustang is green and my wifes Honda is maroon. I hope to get all 3 finished before it gets too cold here in Maryland.
I plan to do this to each vehicle. Please tell me if this is the correct order.
1. wash
2. claybar
3. 845
4. wax
5. quick detailer
My wifes van is new, 8 months old, any precautions I should take on her van? I DO NOT want to mess her van up. Lol
Oh, I also read that using a nanoskin sponge would be better then using a claybar. Is this correct and will it last for 3 vehicles? Trying to save time because with 5 kids I do not have much TIME but I want to do this RIGHT!

2. claybar........Have you clayed before? Use lots of whatever lubricant you decide on (California Gold quick detailer works well for me).Use front to back motions on horizontal surfaces and top to bottom on the sides.
3. 845.........Again, use the same motions to apply as above. Use VERY little and let dry -- wipe off with the same motions as above. If you have used more than an inch of the 845 in the bottle you have used WAY too much!
4. wax.........See how you like the surface after step 3. For me, I do not wax over the 845. Personal choice here, I guess, but your paint will be very shiny after only the 845, and it is very durable.
5. quick detailer........Again, I have done this after waxing, but if you use as little 845 as you should, it will not make much dust at all and will come off completely....I do not do this either after the 845. That is one of the things about 845 -- about 30 minutes and the truck is completely done -- not counting the time to wash it of course.

I have used a claybar on my mustang before. As for waxing and using quick detailer, I just thought about what I read on a couple forums that that's what you are to do. If I don't need to do these two steps that's great!

I have used a claybar on my mustang before. As for waxing and using quick detailer, I just thought about what I read on a couple forums that that's what you are to do. If I don't need to do these two steps that's great!

DO I have to claybar the rims? They are the stock rims from 2004.
I plan to post some pictures of my truck and mustang IF I can get them both finished before winter. No garage so that makes it harder to do!
