If its not REAL bad use Meguiars Paint reconditioning cream with DA polisher and a yellow heavy cutting pad. If the swirls really bad you will need something more aggressive, but this stuff cuts and shines real well. A lot of professional detailers swear by this stuff because it works fast, gives good results and makes them money.

Really though if you don't have one invest in a quality DA Polisher Like this one with instruction on how to use.

Make sure you thoroughly wash and claybar your truck before any polishing!!!

What Mariner said. You can also go to the Adams Polishes Forum and check out
their Swirl and Haze Remover.

The best way is to polish the paint. Does it look like the right side of this picture...or worse?

There are a many different polishes, pads and processes.

There is no "wipe it on and their all gone" magic product.

You can not do by hand what you can do with a machine.

To obtain that swirl-free "Show Car" glassy finish. It takes time, effort, energy, skill and knowledge.
Do you want to learn to do it yourself or get it done and be done with it? Choose wisely my friend!

Merlin,

That is a beautiful shine you have on your hood, and everything you said is very true. It sounds like RustRanger is just starting out. I have a PC DA, an arsenal of polishes, glazes, and waxes. I think for someone starting out that it would be hard to go wrong with some Megs PRC and a DA with a yellow pad. It'd be pretty hard to damage his paint and he would get some quick results he could be proud of. That stuff cuts pretty good and polishes out real nice. I usually use an orange padand top coat it with some NXT wax for good measure. Gives great results on a daily driver. Not a show car shine by any measure but great results with minimum time and effort.

Very true!

I'm partial to Optimum and Four Star polishes and waxes....Zaino makes a great polymer wax that lasts forever. Get a Porter Cable 7424XP orbital polisher and some pads.
