Exhaust tip looks lousy
I bought my truck in late December during the great winter of '13 - '14. As such, I didn't get around to trying to shine it up until like May. Both tow hooks had rust on them, dealer replaced them as damaged in shipping. My exhaust tip never cleaned up good, the side facing the rear tire looks like this:
Dealer says that it's due to road conditions, i.e. salt, snow, etc. kicked up from driving (hasn't been offroad) and they all look like that eventually. It also has a light rust residue inside by the drainhole that comes from the exhaust rusting.
So if I shine it up, that area stands out as dull/scratched.
Thoughts on making the scratches hide better besides painting it?

You could try #0000 steel wool and a good chrome polish. Just be sure to keep it wet.
