1500 PSI power washers were on sale for $50 at wal mart so I thought why not, I'll pick one up to wash my truck. I thought it would make the job easier but it did absolutely nothing. I still had to scrub down the truck like I normally would for the dirt and grime to come off. When I bought the power washer I assumed I could wash the truck with little to no scrubbing. Not sure if soap makes a difference, I was using cheap simoniz car wash solution meant for pressure washers.
So what's the point of washing a vehicle with a pressure washer if it still needs to be scrubbed by hand? Is there any benefit to using one or should I return it?
There is no point, hand washing will always get them cleaner. Did you waste your money? No, I use my power washer for many jobs around the house but washing my trucks is not one of them.
Nope you didn't waste your money at all. I use mine every time I wash the trucks when they have gotten really dirty. Getting caked on grime off of the truck is certainly easier with a power washer. I don't like the idea of scrubbing off a layer of something that might scratch the surface, so I blow it all off with the power washer. But, just like a touchless car wash, its not really clean unless you scrub it down good.

I did notice that it did a good job getting the thick gunk off around the wheel wells. No scrubbing needed. The only thing left on there was road film when I was done. Do you think I should keep it or return it?

I have a 3000 psi gas that I use around the house. I bought the electric for my truck only. So. If there's no point to using one to wash the truck I am going to return it.
Go Pro... Get yourself a foam cannon attachment for your pressure washer. Some of the best detailers in the world use foam cannons. Just Youtube em. Pretty awsome stuff indeed.

I'm familiar with foam cannons. Do you know if I could get one without having a pressure washer? I returned the one from walmart, instead I bought a high powered nozzle I think it's called the water jet. Surprisingly powerful, must have at least 100 to 150 psi. I was blasting dirt and grime off my driveway. Cost $15.

It's called the water jet. But it only works if you have good pressure to begin with. If you have soft pressure it won't be any different than a regular nozzle. It has a lot of bad reviews because of this so if you look it up online, ignore them.
