Engine Brite works well for the bottom end (block, pumps, pulleys, anything you can't see from the top). You can get it pretty much anywhere. As for the top end, soap and water will do. Just make sure to hand dry it to prevent water spots. I like to lube the belt after I clean the engine.

Dilute Simple Green 25/75 and do a little bay wash.
Warm engine - Black Magic 2-in-1 Engine Shine let sit 15 min then very light water to rinse.
Go for a nice ride.
Cool engine - Wipe down with Vinylex the hoses, plastic trim etc.
Comes out nice and clean and shiny and does not attract dust like Armor-All.

Be very careful, stay away from the electrics, battery, starter, alternator etc.
If needed you can cover electrics with plastic grocery bags etc.

If it's real bad the dealer can steam clean your engine.

I used a typical Lemon cleaner you could use on the kitchen counter- has a little degreaser already in it. With everything cool, sprayed it all over under hood, let it sit a few minutes, hosed it all down and then let the truck sit awhile to dry.

Simple as that- didnt use any of the shine stuff but it looks clean. No film of dirt/grime all over everything.

Gunk Engine degresser! Keeps my engine spotless. I have been using it on many cars/trucks, my dirtbikes quads etc with great results. Ill have to try that Black Magic cleaner.

I use Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. Spray it on a dry, cool engine, let it sit for a few minutes, then hose it off. Works great and leaves a nice grease puddle on the drive.

Blue Wolf cleaner.... that stuff is so potent, that i accidentally inhaled the fumes when i sprayed it on my engine, and i couldn't breath for a second lol i SOAKED the engine in that cleaner, let it set for about 2 mins, and then took a pressure washer to it.... i made sure to get the bottom of the hood also now everything looks brand new
