Default Chrome Wheel Cleaning Tip

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm "that guy" who does not wash his truck on his own that often. I resort to the lazy man way and just hit the car wash.

This leads to a clean looking truck but the chrome rims never get truly cleaned. With 8k miles on my 2011, I've never once cleaned or protected the wheels and they were looking terrible. So terrible that I thought that the chrome may be damaged due to my neglect.

No chrome or wheel cleaner would do the job of getting the burnt on brake dust off so I read a post somewhere on the web about using a clay bar and tried that. To my surprise, and with a little elbow grease the rims cleaned up perfectly. With a little wax, they are brand new again.

So if you have brake dust stained rims, give a clay bar a try, it should do the trick and then follow up with some wax to make the job a little easier in the future.
