Just wanted to let you all know that I tried something new last night. I was at Auto Zone and looking for Turtle Wax Ice. I have a car show this weekend and didn't want to have any wax left on the plastic. They didn't have any.
What I did find was Armor All Extreme Shield, which looked like it would be similar. Goes on clear and leaves no residue on plastics. It also said it repells dirt like no other wax. We'll see.
So any way, after battling a hail storm while trying to wash my truck, I gave this stuff a try. I applied it to a small section of front fender and wasn't really impressed. Then I grabbed some Maguires Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner and did a spot right next to it and the spot with the cleaner looked better.
Paint was a little dirty from the winter and this stuff aparently has no cleaning properties, so you do have to prep the paint first.
Hit the whole truck with the Deep Crystal Cleaner, then buffed in 3M's Dark Car Glaze. Finally I hit the truck with this Extreme Shield.
It is unlike any wax I've tried. It goes on looking wet, almost like silicone spray. You do a small area (I did one pannel at a time) and wipe it off with a micor-fiber cloth. No waiting for it to haze, either. "Wipe on, wipe off, Daniel-son." Usually one swipe was all it needed. I did buff it a few more times just to try to bring out a bit more shine. Not sure if it really did or not.
When you get this stuff on plastic, it just makes it a little glossy.
I'm pretty happy with the results so far. It gives the truck a nice, wet look. After the show I want to hit an area with my usual stuff, Maguires Next Gen 2.0 that I really like, just to see if there is a difference in appearance.
I will say that this Extreme Shield is not as slick as the Next Gen. Run your hand over it and you can feel that there is more drag. The slicker a paint surface is, the more resistant it is to scratches.
I'll get some pictures this weekend at the show.

I was about half-way done washing the truck when the wind picked up. Thought that was a little odd... Felt like a thunder storm was rolling in, but no thunder. Then this happened.

Can't complain. Looks good and water beads up nice. I'll continue using it.

I have to say that this wax surprises me. Had some dust on the truck from driving all week. (plus we haven't had any rain and have been under red flag warnings for weeks, hence lots of dust.) This wax does not seem to attract dust like most waxes, because it wasn't too bad.
I hosed it off quickly this morning just to see what it would do, since it says that dirt washes easily away. Jumped in the truck and let it air-dry on the way to work. The sides came out clean with no spots. The hood, which I lightly sprayed, still had dust spots where the water dried. I assume if I had hit it better, that would be clean too.
The wheels still have a film on them. Guess brake dust requires some wiping.

See how it holds up over time. I figure the wax should last at least 12 weeks and preferably more to get on my radar screen. That's about the minimum I need to get through the winter.
Looks good! I researched online and wanted to find a one step wax that actually works. I came across autoglym ultra deep shine. I put it on after a wash and it turned out better than expected. 3 days later covered in dust it still looks wet and the depth of the paint is amazing. Best wax I've ever used. I didn't bother prepping or claying as the truck is new. Check it out, it might save you some time rather than doing muliple steps.
Also this stuff doesnt stain your trim. I wiped the white stuff off today and it came off easy.
