Default Arizona Pinstriping

So, did some off roading this past weekend (4 peaks and Butcher Jones) and was caught in some tight spots due to poor judgment

here in Az we have those mesquite trees with the huge thorns on them. To make a long story short, my truck has this beautiful "scratches" down the side from the thorns. From the feel of it, they seem to be only on the clear coat.

my question is does anyone have any advice for an idiot like myself to buff out the scratches and try and bring my gloss black paint back to new?

if this has already been discussed please excuse me and kindly send me the link to the thread

where I'm from its called Rocky Mountain pin stripping, and yes in many cases it can be polished out. If you take it to the wrong kind of "detailer" you will remove more clear coat than necessary.

Do any of the scratches catch your finger nail in them? If so its likely too deep if not…..there is hope.

What part of AZ do you live in?

Cheers,
GREG

Do you have a da polisher? A porter cable 7424 or even the harbor freight polisher and a new backing plate, with a bit of meguiars 105/205 will polish out most any surface scuff

Default best solution for me..

i go out all the time and scratch the living hell out of my truck, areas in az that have cats claw.. ( vicious *** bush) and I've used diamond cut polishing compound and had great success getting the scratches out. i use a hand drill with the buffing pad on it. works just fine. as for anything deeper.. wet sand and buff my friend.
