If I understand you correctly, you want, but are not getting instant notifications for replies made to Threads you are subscribed to.

Checking your user profile, I see you have your "Automatic Thread Subscription Mode" set to "Daily email notification" in your Forum user control panel.

Change your setting to "instant notification".

Scroll it bottom of page & click "Save changes".

...Or let me know & I can change the setting for you.

Maybe I'll email them again.

Actually my problem is about the menu being cut in half since the kitkat upgrade. Just like the screenshot the OP posted. Thanks for pointing that out though. I now have it set to no email notification. Might keep my inbox a little cleaner.

How is an android operating system upgrade the fault of this forum or it's software?

I'm having a hard time with that because that's what it appears you are saying.

That's exactly what I'm saying, in a sense. I'm really putting the blame on ForumRunner, the developer of the app. I can't really explain it other than what I read in the tutorial for Eclipse about a year ago when I wanted to start playing with android programming. These are a couple options you need to set when creating a new app....

"Minimum Required SDK*is the lowest version of Android that your app supports, indicated using the*API level. To support as many devices as possible, you should set this to the lowest version available that allows your app to provide its core feature set. If any feature of your app is possible only on newer versions of Android and it's not critical to the app's core feature set, you can enable the feature only when running on the versions that support it (as discussed in*Supporting Different Platform Versions). Leave this set to the default value for this project.

Target SDK*indicates the highest version of Android (also using the*API level) with which you have tested with your application. As new versions of Android become available, you should test your app on the new version and update this value to match the latest API level in order to take advantage of new platform features."

Now the key words here are "...you should test your app on the new version..." This is not the first time I've run into an app that broke from an android update and it won't be the last. Most developers fix issues that come about fairly quickly but support for this app is almost nonexistent. Also, keep in mind that I'm not saying all phones/tablets running kitkat will have this problem. The problem might only affect a few device models due to the differences hardware. It's very possible that something in the new APIs screwed up this particular app running on my Moto X and the OP's phone. This is the advantage that Apple has over Google. Devs for iOS only have a few devices and software versions to deal with. It's almost impossible to make everyone happy with Android or any other open source OS that's out there. That's part of the reason that Linux never made a huge impact in the personal computing world.

If you think about it, it's not much different than Windows 7 requiring Windows XP Mode to run some older software. Windows XP Mode is basically just a virtual XP machine running the software because 7 can't do it natively. New versions of operating systems aren't always 100% backwards compatible.

That certainly makes sense, I never bothered with the app mainly because I don't like the way it's displayed on my phone, Droid Ultra, also don't like the mobile version, I always use the full web version.

Wow see I didn't even know people were responding to this thread until today. Basically at the bottom of the app I can see subscribed, messages, etc. They used to have a red circle with a number in the middle (push notification) to indicate an unread message or reply to a subscribed thread. Additionally the thread would be bold to indicate it's unread. Now I rarely if ever get the push notifications and the thread never looks bold. Therefore I can't tell if there has been a new post, unread post, or new messages.

As far as emails go yes I know I can get email notifications, but before the update the app would let me know so I didn't need to check my email for new posts. I would open a thread that was bold and read the new posts and back out and the thread wouldn't be bold anymore and the push notifications would go down by 1.

I understand 100%, but I like it because of the convenience of the notifications. Unfortunately for the OP, his notifications are broken. Another problem I have with it is loading pictures. I would guess that only about 30-40% of pics load on the app. In those situations I can touch the menu button and open the thread in a browser where I can access all features of the website. I do have to do that often though.
