for sale threads

I really don't care much about seller ratings because it's almost impossible for me to buy something from you guys. But... I think that adding a seller rating would make this site much closer to the ebay. We're not here to make money, right? we're here to exchange some expirience i guess. I think that most common way to get some parts for sale is to add some modds to the truck, it mostly means some epirience exchanges, or posts at the forum. So agree about some number of posts required to start a new thread (not post something) in sales section, and i think that it must be 50 or more. A few more about seller rating - i guess that since i, for example, changed my stereo system or something like that, and i sold the old one, i'd have another stereo for sale in 6 months or more. So is it necessery for me to have seller rating for 1-2 sales a year? I don't know. I think that active users would know me without any rating, and the newcomers mostly have some different problems, wich are mostly mechanical, not "anything for sale in here?" What i mean is if they would stay in here for a while they would also know if i'm a trustworthy person or not by the time i'll deside to put another stereo in. Anyway i'd have no rating at the moment i put for sale first stereo system.

I agree with Fast Hampster on the rating system. We are not EBay. This site was not created to to be another Craigslist type forum. The regulars on here know who they can trust. I think if one of us regulars got screwed over on a sale it would be known by all on here. More then likely though they (the screwer) would only be on here to sell one time and leave so a ratings system would be no help anyway. If they did try and post another sale thread, the screwed over person would be all over that thread posting not to trust this seller.
Now having said that I think an Admin or MOD should approve all new threads started in the for sale forum. Post counts would be considered a major factor in getting approval. With the MODS and Admins needed for approval it would also cut down on threads with no pictures and/or prices. That sends a red flag to me when someone tries to sell something with no picture posted.
Requirements to start a thread:
50+ post count
Pictures!! Preferably more than one.
Price including shipping
Zip Code if offering shipping
We are getting bigger now so another MOD wouldn't be a bad idea.
Just my 2 cents.

Forgot to mention.
I use the report a post all the time. They usually take care of the offending thread or post very quickly. It is not all on them, we too need to help out by letting them know what's going on around here. They are Admins AND MODs not supermen!!

Well said Dave. Since not all of the Mods and Owners are on 24/7 we do ask that all of ya'll help by using the report post button. It sends a message to our e-mail so if thats the first thing we check (like most internuts) then we see it and take care of it. yes I am an ***** but I want this board to run as smooth as possible for everyone.

consider they may not know
as a new member to the forum, i wasn't aware of the "rule" nor have i ever heard community members complaining of people selling relevant products (except for businesses) in any of the other sites I'm active in.
my bad.
sorry to offend, but deleting my post and making condescending comments doesn't exactly set the right tone in my opinion.
just my two cents.

I agree with all that was and is said. Like mentioned above I don't necessarily think it would be a good idea to have a seller rating and ONLY for the fact that if a newb signs up on here ONLY to sell something than a seller rating wouldn't apply to him and we as regular members would have no idea what kind of business he does.
And I know that many of us have never met but I'm sure that everyone knows that the regulars on here wouldn't try to screw another member. For example I'm trying to sell my Kenwood in-dash ((hint hint)) and there's no way that I would scam someone because A) I'm not that kind of person and B) that person that got scammed would tell everyone on here that I'm a fake and I would hate that.
I do like the idea of having a 40 or 50 post count rule before you can sell something just for us to kind of get to know the person through previous posts before we were to buy something from them
Just my thoughts.

i agree and if say i were to buy that in dash, ((hint hint)) haha, then i know you wouldnt screw me, not some joe smoe who just signed up for one sale...the ratings or reviews may be over kill but its a history for other members to see, but that thread is a seperate thread and has nothing to do with this one...

We hope members will be polite when telling someone about the post rule. Unfortunately we get enough spam that it's hard to always be polite. Anyway, sorry for the comments, I agree that they are not necessary.

I like the minimum post rule....that is a good idea....one of the other forums I am on makes the 1st 5 posts period get approved by the admin....if they don't approve them or flag them as spam the member get the boot....it keeps everything honest and cuts way down on spam too
