Chat Room

The chat rooms that we have seen, tend to hurt the community, rather than enhance it and that is why we have been hesitant to install one.
I will give it some additional thought though and see if there are any ways to make it work.

I wonder though if we put a requirement of somebody to have 60 Days Tenure with the site to be able to access the chat room, that would eliminate a lot of spammers, and also those who have immediate questions, would still be posting up in the proper section and not in chat
I was wondering if there was any way for mods to place the chat room in the Off-Topic section strictly to discourage people from using it for questions that need to be posted on the forum.

And if the chat room is a flop, and everybody agrees that it is useless then make a decision to take it off. If it really is a flop then people would use the Off Topic section anyways.
I just feel that there are way too many loyal members on here to let any one of these sections or this website as a whole die.

... and if its a matter of cost to upgrade, I'm sure that there are enough people on here who would be willing to start and participate in a collection pool in the name of chat.

All I have to say is look through the "Chat room" like threads and see how many questions about trucks have actually been asked??
Not to mention like Kooly said we can make the Chat room off topic only, and if some one were to ask a question I am sure out of all the regulars here atleast one person will be there to direct them to the right section to post a thread..

I'd be willing to be a "F150Forum Supporter" if I had a PayPal. I don't even know how PayPal works to be honest.
PS. Personally, I am the type of person who is more willing to post serious questions in a forum thread than in a chat room because usually chat room is just a "hang out" type of atmosphere and most of the people asking questions will get a reference to post their question in the appropriate section. Maybe just me, but that's what I would do.

Karl... Go to paypal.com, click set up an account, and fill in the information. Its just as easy as making an account here.
Not that I said that to get you to be a supporter, but it helps ALOT more than I thought it would. If you buy something from someone online (here for instance) and they don't follow thru or the item is not in the condition described... if you paid thru paypal, you make a claim with them and they will go after the person that sold it to you so you get your money back.
Its a great tool.

Um one more question. Can I find my routing number any other way than by looking at my checks, cuz I don't think I have those starters anymore lol

December 2009 TOTM!
I think I posted a thread asking about a Chat room a while back. Me, Bob and Chad had alot of ideas but Jon didn't seem to like it.
60 or 90 day is somewhat protective over spammers, but I think a post count is the way to go. 300 posts and you can get in the chat.
Like Kooly said, most of the talking is going to be BS. Not about trucks..
I can TOTALLY understand not having a chatroom and losing valuable information for forum viewers. BUT, alot of serious indepth information gets lost through Private Messages also. So it's sorta goes both ways.
