AIM sucks.. It takes over the computer wayyyy to much. MSN does to but not quite as bad. Yahoo is a good standalone IM. My yahoo is notoriousgreasemonkey

I like the idea of the chat room because you can talk with people who want to talk. I don't IM or PM people that I don't know because who knows if they want to talk to you. Maybe they want to go through posts without interuption. Maybe they don't feel like talking. Then it's just a 1 on 1 when a chat room will let others join in too, a group chat. It might show more activity with the site when people have gone through all new posts and can continue to enjoy the site by talking with people who wish to do the same. Then you can periodically check for new posts and continue talking or move on. It doesn't even have to be on the main menu screen to cut down on the "clutter" or "tackiness". It can be in a separate category, sub-forum, whatever it is called.
