Has anybody here ever let a fiercely strong wind catch the door on accident. well mine did, the second time which bent the hinges back and would not align itself to shut the door. I tried with all my might not to let go of the door but the wind was too strong. Just wondering if this is a common problem to any one here who lives in an open area with high winds.

Welcome and I highly doubt you can bend them back on your own. Might have to get the stealership to fix it or get new hinges.

It happened here in Ohio. You will have to take it in to get fixed. Good thing you didn't hit anything with your door.

you can bend them back yourself with a torch, lol

My gf shortened the door on my Dakota by one inch, it took me a whole day to get the hinges straightened out.

witha stack of washers it closed just like it was stock, but there was a dent in the front of the door, and the corner was messed up a bit.

but it closed good, lol

You will need to replace the hinges. A door is a pretty good challenge to align properly. You might consider letting the dealer install new hinges and do the alignment.

I hope you haven't bent the structure of the door where the hinges mount.

thanks guys, this is actually a government issued truck 03 F-150 and i'm doing a research on seeing how often this kinda thing occurs. i know it's more of a human error with a mix of weather but it's still no excuse on our part which could've been prevented by parking it against the wind. It didn't just happened to me, it happened to others with the same kinda truck as well. Our truck is a mess now, as it tries to close it catches against the fender causing more damages. We just got an estimate from the stealers for 700 dollars to get this fix if the fender is not badly damaged, and i'm almost positive that my CO is pretty much fed up and pissed off about all this. Granted the government pays for them, but it's still is one of those things that they believe the government shouldn't pay for our mistakes. Unless i have something to show that this particular truck is easily prone to door damages cause by wind then it'll may take the weights off of our shoulders.
