Default Why does Ford use the 6x135 bolt pattern?

Why is Ford the only company that uses the 6x135 bolt pattern? Everyone else that uses a 6 lug uses the 6x139/6x5.5. Does Ford just enjoy making buying, trading, or selling aftermarket wheels a hassle?
Chevy, GMC, Toyota, and Nissan owners can all trade wheels with each other easily.
Ford owners can only trade amongst each other. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a set of wheels and tires that I would like to buy or trade for, but can't do it simply because the bolt pattern is 6x5.5.

What is so special about that pattern that Ford won't change from it?

Doesn't really matter. It's not like Ford is starving for aftermarket part suppliers.

They've been using it for over 12 years. Why change now?

Well not all toyotas are 6x5.5... Tundras have been 5x150 bolt pattern since 2007.

Just because you have a hard time finding a used set of wheels doesnt mean it's a Ford problem.

You have a much less of an issue than the 97-03 f150s. I have a really hard time finding just the right wheels..doesnt help that even the newest 10th gen is 12 years old...

Why does Chevy use a bowtie? Why does Ford use a blue oval?

I think that you are right. There is no reason why Ford cannot use a more standardized bolt pattern in order to keep its customers happy. Honestly, how hard can it be but if you think you have it tough than you should talk to the poor buggers who are using Ford 7 bolt axles....there is absolutely no excuse for the 7's.

I think all the other brands should standardize with Ford sizes.
After all, who sells the most trucks?

Well I dont want Chevy, GMC, Toyota, and Nissan wheels on my Ford. I bet there are several hundred aftermarket choices for wheels in the 6x135 size. If you are complaining about buying used aftermarket wheels in the correct size, well thats like anything else used, that choices are limited.
