comparing f150 v6 gas, f150 v8 gas and f250 7.3 deisel
I'm in the market for a truck. I'm trying to find out what is going to be the better more cost effective truck for what I need f150 v6 gas, f150 v8 gas or f250 diesel. This truck will be a daily driver ( about 65miles a day ) towing a two horse trailer 2-4 times a month (about 80 miles round trip ) hauling a round bale of hay about once a month ( about 50 miles of hauling ). I know the diesel engine will last longer than the gas and from the gas/diesel prices in my area about $3.60gas and $3.68diesel but the upkeep and repair for the diesels is more. So which would be better as far as a daily driver and be able to handle the towing and hauling?

I traded my 2008 Diesel F-250 4X4 this year for a 2012 EcoBoost.
Slightly better mileage, but still strong enough to tow 8500 lbs.
The 150 is much easier to maneuver in city parking lots than the 250.
It's slightly easier to find good Gas stations than good Diesel stations, in my area.
Short answer is that I loved my Diesel. It was strong as a bull, and
dependable. Down side was maintenance... Much more oil required ect...
I thought long and hard about trading for a F-150 with the 5.0 motor.
I loved the way it sounded, but in the long run I went with a EB for performance. NO REGRETS.

F150 ecoboost.the v8 will pull it but not nearly as well as the Eco will. Diesel is overkill for what you need.

F150 EB or 5.0. The 5.0 has slightly higher GVWR

I'd go with 5.0 for your needs.
Diesels are awesome but expensive and the truck is too big for a commuter.
The EB is even over kill for what you'll be towing. They're great for towing a skid loader or other heavy equipment on a regular basis but the 5.0 is plenty adequate for what you mentioned.
And. even though modern gas turbo engines are quite reliable, I'm still of the opinion that turbos are unnecessary added complexity for a light duty vehicle.
Just my .02.
