How many of you have switched to using a higher viscosity oil in your 5.4L Triton and has it made a difference? Also how many kilometers have you put on the truck with the new oil? Is it worth switching?

Personally, I have always run the manufacturers spec in ALL my vehicles.
Sometimes I think that people overthink motor oil. Before I bought my F150 in February, my daily driver was my 95 Wrangler that I bought brand new. From day 1 I used Valvoline 5W-30 and a WIX filter and I changed the oil religiously every 3000 miles. I put 158,000 miles on that Jeep without a single issue. At about 100,000 miles my original valve cover gasket started weeping ever so slightly so I replaced it. When I pulled the valve cover off, I noticed that my vavletrain was still super clean.
Sometimes I chuckle at these nimrods and their $100.00 oil changes.

5w30 seems to be ok in the 2v, but I would use 5w20 in a 3v. I also use 5w30 Valvoline in my truck, and when I changed head gaskets at 213,xxx, the engine was amazingly clean.

Pick a quality oil (and MC is as good or better than most and still steal fer the price, even now), pick the factory recommended viscosity, change regularly, and stick with it. And never use Fram, lol.

so you have a 2v truck then? Why are you posting on here that its ok in your 2v but you wouldnt use 5w-30 in a 3v when you dont own a 3v..??? Common

I do believe that if you keep clean 5w-20 in the engine that it works fine, especially in the winter 5w-20 worked fine.. Clean oil keeps it quite, but as the oil gets older, even using synthetic oil gets louder. And coming into the summer months the oil thins out and 5w-20 just doesnt run as well in my 5.4L in the summer time.

0w40/0w20 mix in the winter and 0w40 or5w40 (petro canadda Duron 5w40 in it for this summer). The 3 valve 5.4 is spec'd for 5w30 or 5w40 in Australia. Exactly the same engine, VVT, etc. Ask yourself why.
