Question Tires - Where did you get the best deal?

Well its about that time, mine are worn out, and its time to step up to a 35". I've done all my research (tons a reading on this forum) Pretty much know what I want. I'm most likely going with the trail grapplers.

My question is, where did everyone get there tires from? Were your best deals local or online? and where?

I've seen some pretty good deals online, but once you factor in mounting and balancing (and sometimes shipping) it probably comes out about the same as the local shops.

Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something before I order a set.

I've been browsing:
tirerack.com
discounttiredirect.com (free shipping!)
4wheelparts.com

Anyone have any places to suggest?

Thanks!

The best deals ive gotten have been from the local Firestone dealer here. My last set of tires on my 05 cost me $808.99 mounted, balanced, aligned with road hazard warranty for the Firestone Destination AT's in the stock 275/65R18 size. I also bought the KM2's for my ranger there for just over $900 for a 33x12.5 R15 tire mounted and balanced. they have treated me well.

I bought new Coopers A/T's a little under six months ago and had one blow out about 3 weeks ago. Cooper would not help with any type of warranty and the Local shop was no help. I was stuck spending another $270.00 for a single new tire.....

I would make sure you got a good warranty; I saved $62 a tire = $248 total and now I am negative $20.00 and still have three used tires by going local without warranty through shop.

.
Local, friendly FoMoCo dealership service department.

After doing all of your tire brand / price / etc., take your selection to your FoMoCo service department and hammer-out a deal.

In the past 7 years I've purchased 8 sets of tires for a variety of vehicles and in each and every case the dealership was able to beat the best price I could find. Tire-co$t+Mounting+balancing+sales-tax was less than even the best online, no shipping co$t price.

And this was from various FoMoCo dealerships in NC and MI.

If you go local, wait for 4th July weekend. I'm sure there will be specials discounts.

I have always done very well by taking pricing from Tirerack to the local Discount Tire and having them match the price. I have averaged a savings of about $160 doing this.
