Were you strictly Chevy to that point?

Honestly, I bought my first F-150 because of the price. I grew up in a Chevy family but was in need of a truck. Found an 86 sitting out in the pasture and bought it dirt cheap.

What I fell in love with was the ride quality. After some greasing and cleaning, it was the smoothest truck I had ever driven. My mom secretly loved driving my truck because it "rode like a Cadillac" compared to the 84 Chevy Suburban. I sold it to my dad and bought an 01 and it was the same story. Great, comfortable ride for my 60 mile commute at the time.

After driving/riding in friend's chevy and dodge trucks, I can now see the major difference in ride comfort and interior quality.

Grew up chevy, bought a ford, now thats all i'll own. With chevys, its not really anything against the truck, its the personality of chevy fanboys that turn me away from them. How if a chevy or dodge is broke down, its all "eh **** happens", if your ford has so much as a flat tire its all " found on road dead, piece of **** ford". Annoys the hell out of me. My 6.4 ****s on chevys and dodges, And my old 91 f150 faithful, so thats why i buy ford

I agree about the ride quality. All my closest friends are Chevy fans, so I have plenty of experience riding in Chevy's but my Ford drives smoother than both of theirs (one has an '01 Silverado 1500 the other has a '12 Silverado 1500)

In no way do I knock Chevy for their build and design but I think Ford blows them away in a lot of categories.

alvin8616 yeah pretty much. I had a Dodge Ram for about 5 years then jump over to Chevy for about 11 years now Ford. The Chevy Avalanche was my dream and that's what I had for a long time.

Thank you! I know all trucks (and cars for that matter) have their problems but what I have from Chevy fanatics is how Newer Fords have a transmission issue when in fact it is the newer Chevys that have the problems most often('04-'08)

About transmissions, some of the new ford trannys do have their bugs, but the allison chevys praise so highly actually wont hold as mich power as the 6.7 ford 6 speed auto. A tuner company (i wanna say h&s??) has one at 700-800 horses and 1764 ft-lbs of torque on a STOCK tranny. And im not bsing lol. Not bashing allison, its great, but i've never seen a stock allison hold close to that

I was a Toyota guy, driven there by owning several Renault LeCars. Was driven by the camping bug to buy a Mazda B4000 (Ford Ranger) Put 200,000 miles on it and one clutch. Moved up to a pop up camper and two different Explorers, one with the 302 and one with the 4.0 engines, both ran 150,000 miles with zero problems. Bought a 2002 Chevy ZR5 truck, left me in the middle of nowhere with a bad fuel pump at 10 below zero at 6:00 in the morning, blown transmission at the boat ramp, a bit later another blown transmission, left me a bit later with two locked up rear brake calipers.........etc. I almost paid more for the repairs than I did the truck, granted i put 180,000 miles on the truck, but i did the same with the Fords. 2009 F150CC FX4 has treated me great, tows the 6000 lb camper well, to bad I have a 100 mile round trip to work each day. Zero problems so far, knock on wood!
