(1) What did you and your truck do today?

My dad used a product on his Trans Am called Black Back. It worked really really well and hasn't faded (mind you this thing is garage kept and has only seen snow twice and rain a handful of time since '86). So I wonder if heating them, and then using Black Back would work out better....

It doesn't last...... I did my bed rails last November with a heat gun and my truck is in the garage except when its at work and there is already a difference where my tonneau cover sits on them. I had to remove my tonneau to make some adjustments to it and underneath it was still black but the edges are fading again.

I've always heard the heat gun trick never lasts too. And new ones fade fast enough IMO that I'd just break out the paint

Made a run to the tire shop. Had a nice nail in the side wall. 11k on the tire. DEAD. Dropped my spare, put spare time on the rim, got a used Michelin match and mounted on the spare rim. all for $55.

I would paint as newfie said. I just live with it for now and spray it with turtle wax ice detailer and it stays black until my next wash and doesnt streak when it rains.

Just happens I have a heat gun, so I am going to try the windshield cowl and see what happens. Worst thing that can happen is it turns gray again.....right?
If it doesn't work or doesn't last then I'll think about painting it or replacing it.
