Have to agree there. I see it everyday, drivers that really need to be stopped. Some of the antics I see scare the crap out of me. I'll bet 2-3 times a week I get to almost witness first hand a head on collision. Some are VERY close.

Not always. Sometimes LEO's are told to pull over anyone for a check, if there might be something going on in the area. I got stopped a couple years ago in the Ranger by a county guy, because I had my rear plate partially obscured by snow. When he saw it was me, he apologized, and explained there were breakins occurring in the area, and the Sheriff had ordered them to stop anyone for whatever reason and check them out. Ofcourse it was 0300, so I totally understood.
Another occasion, a newer DOT guy pulled me in at the Mackinac Bridge. When he determined I was a friendly, he actually told me he just wanted to see who I was. I won't give his name, don't want to possibly get him in trouble. LEO's are not supposed to pull a person over without a good reason, and believe me, sometimes they can be quite creative. All in all, I really don't care, I just tell them we're on the same side.

They can't do that here unless they have a good reason and they don't pay attention to much my dad's 97 hasn't had the front plate visible for 3 or 4 years and I've driven it across the state like that

the cops here don't even bother with front plates at all, I didn't even know they were "required" for the longest time
