I would bet it's a bad wire splice that the PO did. I would take it out and cut all the wire splices, do it right and re-install. It's probably not the radio. Wouldn't take long to do either, the wiring is very simple.

I have more to do just in general, but I've only had the truck a few weeks! I'm like you though, I can't go without my tunes. Brakes are the next big thing, everything new all around. Probably have a shop do the lower ball joints, then align it. I want to find a relatively quiet cat-back dual exhaust too, maybe install over the winter.

I put the inner fenders (and mud guards) back on today, new plastic push pins and stainless steel screws, then took the little woman to the movies (Gravity). She hadn't ridden in the truck yet, so that was a big thrill.

Love my new Kenwood USB stereo. Works great. I can crank it on the 1/2 hour drive to work tomorrow!

Oh yeah, had to buy a new torque wrench. Broke my 3/8 drive that went to 270 ft lbs trying to tighten my lug nuts to 150. So bought a 1/2 drive that goes to 150. Will give that a try maybe tomorrow night. Gonna have to carry a breaker bar, 13/16 sockiet and pipe I guess if I ever get a flat. Sheesh!

You are a hobbyist welder, carpenter, electrician, plumber, etc. ? Do you have any pictures of your carpentry work? With your welding hobby, do you make any wrought iron, or any other stuff? Or do you use it for work, like to repair something?
Oops, missed this post/reply. Hobbyist welder - built a hot rod chassis for a t bucket years ago, and am currently rebuilding it by lengthening it and doing some other stuff. All I do with welding is weldable steel stuff.

Have built all sorts of things with wood, from garages to finish carpentry. Have to look around to find some pics. Here's one of the hot rod I built 15 years ago...

Thanks, it is a kick in the butt kinda car. Has a 414ci sbc, th350 and jag irs with a 3.74 final gear. Swapping out the th350 for a 700r4 to have overdrive. Beside lengthening the chassis ahead of the motor 4", I need to weld in a new crossmember for the "new" tranny, and make a new driveshaft for it. Not enough time or $ for all my toys.

Couple years ago I rescued an old wrecked tunnel hull fiberglass speedboat and restored it. Check out the link here: http://www.powercatboat.com/Group/FA_14t/FA_14t01.html

It's 3 pages long, and includes some videos. Still a work in progress. This year I built a new rear seat out of plastic plywood and mounted a couple of folding seats on it.

More to come...

@frank_a Thanks. I just looked, it is amazing and awesome. I couldn't look at the videos because I'm at work but I will check them out later. Looking thru the photos, was the floor of the boat rotten? I like how you made your own trailer, I saw that in there too. You did an awesome job on that boat and restoring it to look new. Do you still have it now? Looking thru the pictures are you the guy with the dark hair and beard in some of them?

Thanks, it was a labor of love. I've owned lots of boats, big and small, but with the kids grown, my wife wanted a runabout. I wanted a classic boat. I found this hull, discovered what is was and bought it. They're fairly rare. I had never done much fiberglass or body work before. The fellow with the long hair and beard is my oldest son. The hull is the floor. The trailer now has 15" aluminum wheels all around and I installed hydraulic brakes on it summer of 2012. I also enlarged my pole barn so it has a place to sit over winter. Like my hot rod, the boat is a kick to drive. It has incredible acceleration, turns on a dime, and is a regatta winner with me driving and my youngest son navigating.

I've been addicted to speed for a long time...

Well got a little bored today after work and decided to take the truck up a few trails. Needless to say it was a beautiful day! Trail has gotten a little rough since I have been up it last and had the rear wheel lift and the truck sway back and forth in one spot which was a little scary, but hey I made it and it was fun. Got some great shots while I was up there as well!
