What can I do to help MPG!!
Hey everyone, I purchased my 2011 ecoboost fx4 a couple months ago and the MPG's is really started to be a pain in the A** I drive it very very easy, Im in west texas where its flat. I have a 2.5" leveling kit and stock tire size BFG All terrains. I drive from Fort Worth to Midland which is 300+ Miles. I jump on the highway put it on 75 mph and reset the MPG. I was pulling 15 flat with my stock michelin tires. Since then, Ive added an AFE Stage 2 and turbosmart BOV's. With that being said, I pull 13.8 MPG. So much for the intake helping!! I then Bought an SCT tuner and it hasn't raised any! Whats wrong here? Is there a different tune I can buy to help? My buddy has the same truck and he gets 18 running 85 bone stock and it pisses me off! What can I do to help my mileage. Please no insults or tell me to buy a car for mileage. I need a truck but I need a little better mileage! I just sold my sct tuner as I was not impressed with any of the tunes installed. I drive 175+ miles a day all highway. If I could get to 17 I would be more than happy! My old Ecoboost was a 2011 and it wasnt much better!

Lose the level kit. It is letting a lot of air under the truck causing turbulence and massive drag. I'd say you would gain 2 to 3 MPG back returning to stock height.

Did you not see where I said I needed a truck. Why even post a stupid response when i clearly stated that above to weed out stupid answers like that? Even before leveling kit I pulled the same MPG. I have the 3.73 rear end. I wonder how much it would cost me to switch to the 3.55. I drive too much to only get 13.8.

Ah if the truck is stock and in 'Tip-Top' condition then the only way to get good MPG is either a change in driving style or an Eco tune. The motor will generically run a little rich.
Gears are another way but looking at good $$$$ for both & labour.

The canned tunes are run of the mill, nothing special, custom tunes are the way to go. I have an SCTx4 with custom tunes, this is stock.
This is with a custom tune.
The last pic I set cruise at 60mph, reset the meter, and drove flat land for 25 mins hwy only for a true hwy mileage sample.

According to studies backed by the department of energy, the average car will be at its advertised MPG at 55 mph. But as the speed increases:
- 3% less efficient at 60 mph
- 8% less efficient at 65 mph
- 17% less efficient at 70 mph
- 23% less efficient at 75 mph
- 28% less efficient at 80 mph
