Default being told that there is a 24-48 hour wait before an RMA can be issued

Is that reasonable when you call a vendor about returning a product? (tonneau cover). Here's where it gets sticky... it's a F150 forum vendor (and yes PMs already sent to the vendor to try to take care of this quietly , yet no response, yet activity shows the vendor has been logged in --update I've been PM-ed from the vendor rep saying they'll try to speed things along. I'm still upset that calling on a monday (not a holiday), and being connected to a return department, and then being told they (return department) can't do anything and that it'll be 24-48 hours before someone calls me back
RMA received 5pm today, about 32-33 hours after submittal

It was a holiday weekend so that probably is reasonable.

That seems typical any day of the week.

If they don't get back with you in the time stated then that's when you can start worrying a little. As mentioned, it was a holiday weekend.

That's usually how long it takes to process an order, so give it that long to do the opposite.

RMA recieved after 5pm today. Package dropped off at FedEX tonight. Now more waiting . . .
Place bets what's going to happen next:
Will the return be accepted
Will there be additional fees (other than the $60 to ship it back)
Will they actually have the cover that fits my truck in stock

Only issue I see here is a complaining, impatient customer. There are reasons things take X amount of time. The vendor PMed you and told you they would help out as much as possible. You called the return dept on a Monday after a holiday (that dept is doing twice the work Friday and Mondays work probably). They told you their procedure then you received the RMA a day later... I see this as pretty excellent customer service.

I agree, you seem very impatient....they gave you an RMA in the time frame they stated, what more do you want?

RMA was received after 5pm on tuesday. I FedEX-ed the package back. I emailed them the FedEX shipping number. FedEX shows it was recieved and signed for midday on friday. I emailed them on friday confirming that FedEX indicated it was received. I have emailed again tuesday morning inquiring about the state situation after not getting any response on monday.
