Question What Bedliner should I Get?

I recently got a 2005 F-150 FX4 and noticed that the bed is beat up pretty good. There are lots of dents and a couple scratches but I am really only having an issue with the dents. I am wondering if I should get a bed liner and if so, what kind? I've read that spray on bed liners make the dents look worse and you should use a drop in bed liner but Im curious what you guys think.

Geez that thing is beat to hell. You could get a spray in and then a bed mat to cover the bottom. But a drop in would be cheaper.

I would paint before a drop in bedliner just to slow the rust.

Yep, exactly. If this is a beater truck, just paint as chickenwire suggested and put a drop-in. Alternatively, if it's more the bottom rather than sides that you're worried about, you can just get some heavy duty mats to put down to protect from any further damage/scratching.

If it's covered, you probably don't even have to worry about painting, but if uncovered year-round, I'd probably get some paint in there.....

The thing is overall it's a really nice truck. Just the bed is in rough shape. I might just use a bed mat for now

Go on Craigslist or go to a linex or Rhino spray on dealer. Ask them to buy a used one from them. The Rhino spray on dealer by me must have at least 30 to 50 of them piled up. They post the old bed liners on Craigslist from $25 to $100.

Hrrm... good idea. Also, the guy I get my caps from has several Bedliner options including BedRug, Penda, Weathertec mats, etc... See here for some pics: http://www.mastercrafttruckcaps.com/liners.php

I would use a drop in liner on that truck.

Just went through the same issue with my FX4. Bang out the dents in the wheel wells and get it sprayed with line-x. Otherwise she gonna rust out in no time if ya put a drop in liner in. Once it's sprayed, get a bed mat as well. Good to go.
