Default Warranty Claim, DENIED!

A good friend of mince bought a used 2014 Eco Screw. With less than 14k miles, he got the "shutter" affect while giving it gas. Took it to dealer, and they denied his claim for "factory work." Why you ask? Well, he had a "tune" or some type of program that people are doing to the computers for more HP, torque etc. He didnt do the tune, and didnt know one was in there. Obvious the previous owner did it. The dealership that he bought the truck from stated on the window "factory warranty" remaining.
So Im guessing this could get nasty between the selling dealership and my friend..

Have dealer reflash truck back to stock and try going to another dealer.

This^ or if your friend is in the New Orleans area I can flash it back to as built, it would be just like it was the day it rolled off the assembly line, software wise that is.

I can't say about elsewhere, but the dealers in my area will go to extreme lengths to avoid doing "free work". I would say the guy may have a slight chance with the selling dealer, but most likely none with ford. The OP didn't say if the selling dealer was a ford store, but I'm guessing not. Long story short- I'm putting my money on he's screwed. Also, once you are denied a claim because of re-flashing, the VIN gets put on a "list" that will be forever denied for ANYTHING. This, kids, is why my stuff stays bone-stock till ALL warranty is long gone.

Refer your friend to this forum, have him research the shudder issue. He will be able to greatly lessen the likelihood of this returning fairly easily and cheaply on his own.

Research drilling a hole in the intercooler and changing plugs and properly gapping them, although his truck should have the MC 534's his tune may be a bit aggressive and require a smaller gap than .030
