Default vacuum line

I have recently bought a 1988 ford f150 302 v8. I want to know where the vacuum line is in the engine and how it comes out. I want to add some sea foam to the vacuum system to help the truck run a little better. Also, does anyone know the proper operation of the dual fuel tanks on this truck. When switching from front the back gas tank, does the truck need to be off or parked and running?

seafoam in the vacuum lines? I don't understand what that would accomplish?

the can says to induce 1/3 of the can into the vacuum line with the truck running, then shut it off and wait 5 minutes and start is back up. It is supposed to help clean out the valves and internal engine compartment.

normally the guys spray the seafoam into the intake with the engine running to get it into the internals. someone else can confirm maybe I've never run seafoam in mine before.

As far as the fuel tank I doesn't matter when you switch them. On my 86 I would run it until it started to die before I did but that can lead to your fuel pump burning up. So I would switch it when the gauge reads E. And I've never heard of the sea foam thing but I'll ask my dad and get back with you tomorrow.

I tried switching the fuel tanks from front to rear, while the truck was running and stopped. The truck cut off twice on me while driviing. Like there wasnt any fuel getting to the engine. Could this be a fuel pump problem??

It could be a number of things. First how much fuel is in the tank (remember the gauge may not work) second how old is the fuel. If you know theres fuel in the tank and you know it's fresh then you can turn the on the key but don't start and see if you hear the fuel pump kicking on if not then it's the pump.

There is about a little more than a 1/4 tank of gas in this tank, but I do not know how old the fuel is. I will try and see if the fuel pump turns on without starting the engine. Its odd that it would just shut off while driving though. Is this a sign that I would need to replace it??
