Idling Trouble
Hey guys, I am new to the site, and was wondering if any of you had any idea what could be cause this strange problem I am having. I have a 01 F-150 5.4L V8, now most the time the truck runs fine... but occasionally when I start the truck, it will start but it will not idle. It will run fine as long as you give it gas, but when you take your foot off the gas the truck dies. After about 10 minutes of fighting with it, it will just start working with no problems. My theory is that I need to run some injector clean,,,, Anybody have any ideas what it could be?? Thanks.... Brandi

Good morning, the IAC (idle air control) is what maintains idle per direction of the computor. Other posts here talk about cleaning it. Suggest using the search button for similiar problems. Good luck.

Replace the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. My 01 Screw with the 5.4L did the same thing about two months ago. The new valve cost me about $40 or $50 dollars and took about ten minutes to change. Runs great now. Oh by the way the IAC valve is on the back of the throttle body and has one electrical connector on it. Good Luck

The problem was at anytime cold or at running temp.... but I took apart the IAC and cleaned it... Everything seems to be working fine now... thanks everyone for your help!
