Default Updating the Nav system

I have a 2011 Eco Platinum and was wondering do people update their Nav software? I have received offers in the mail for purchasing a new disc for $199.00. Just seeing if this is common or not!

The maps are updated to make changes to roads from construction and updates the POI files.

You can check online for map updates as well... I see the last update came out May of 2013... not sure if they update every May but if so might want to wait a few months and get the latest maps

You might want to see if you need updates to MyTouch system as well

The thing that gets me is the price. I'll probably just use my Garmin with free map updates when my nav. card is outdated.

The 2009-2012 had a different style Nav than the 2013 and 2014's w/ the MFT system. The MFT system is a SD card and it can be purchased online for less than $50 bucks when they come out. I've had to do it for my wife's Explorer because it had the A3 card in it as opposed to the A4 which is the most current. There are tons of places to buy them from and they require no programming or changes to the vehicle.

Wink

The update is a four CD set. As said, it updates the maps, point of interest (POI), nav. software, and the Gracenote database for the sound system (info on the DVD playing, etc.). It is usually updated about every year, I think. Last year (March '13) I bought the update which was already out for about 11 months. That was when I discovered it could be updated. And then the new one came out in April a month later! Talk about a gotch ya. So I think I'm gonna wait a few more months till at least May, and see what happens....
