Default Long term update

I bought my truck used with just over 70k miles 2 years ago. I now have over 112,000 miles on it and its still running strong. As far as mpg goes I cant complain. it all depends on my driving and the terrain. When I'm on a road trip to Montana or Colorado from Tennessee I usually stick to the posted speed limits. If the speed limit is 55mph and I'm on flat to rolling terrain I average between 22-25 mpg. 65-70mph on the same terrain and I'll average 18-20mpg. 75mph and its around 16-18mpg. Around town I'll average 14-18mpg depending on how many stop lights I hit and the traffic. I see a slight increase in performance in higher elevations (as opposed to the Tennessee Valley are). Unfortunately, I cannot give insight to towing as I have only towed a 5000lb load a few times going up and down a 3%-4% grade. I did average 13-14mpg during those instances. Not bad for a 4x4 truck with 3.73 gearing and a rear locker. I also never really noticed a difference in mileage with the camper top on or off. I love the power and torque the truck has to offer and is very comfortable to drive (over 1000 hours driven). It has also gotten me out of the few tight spots (black ice in Wyoming and mud in Tennessee). The life mpg's on the truck are 17.6 according to the computer, but that also includes the previous owners driving habits ( I didn't reset the computer) I love this trucks all around capability and driveability! I hope to drive it another 100k miles and make more memories!

Smile 2015 2.7 xl mpg

Hello all,
So last week (Tuesday) I purchased my first truck ever, Yay! It is 2.7 EcoBoost crew with RWD. I drove to Houston and back twice and here are the MPG results at various speeds set to cruise for extended period of time, at least 70 - 100 miles:
@ 70 - 23mpg
@ 75- 21.8
@ 77 - 20.8
@ 80- 19.4 consistently.

City: 17-18. Driving conditions: Daily 11 miles, about 5 miles at 45, two traffic light stops.

The manufacturer says the mpg will be more accurate after 1000miles since it is a magic number for 2.7 L engine to (open up?). So will continue my tests. However, I see posts that are getting 26 mpg, not sure how you are getting it, maybe there is a setting for fuel economy?BTW, it has 36 gallon tank, which shows 645 miles to empty (holly molly). Thanks.

Definitely let the truck break in properly. I suggest you do your first oil change after about 2000 miles (just my opinion) to get rid of any potential matter that shouldn't be there. I don't think you need any special oil; I get all my changes dine using The Works package at the dealer. I can't buy the parts and do the change cheaper myself, not to mention not having to crawl around it.

Now, once the truck is fully broken in, the thing I did to get my 2011 FX4 5.0 into the 20s overall, was inflate the tires to 5psi over the sticker (doesn't hurt the ride and gets a bit more mileage in itself. I've also gone to Royal Purple on the transfer case, rear differential, and transmission. Keep it clean. With those simple items, in spite of the 3.73 rear end, I average right at 21.5, if I keep it below 70. At 60-62, I get 23mpg, which is better than a co-worker does on his. He has a 2012 Lariat with the EB.

Finally, mojito the loads you carry in your truck. With the 2.7, it may have to spend more time than you desire in Turbo mode, to carry weight. In spite of the better unladen fuel economy, it works harder to carry the same weight in cargo. Just stuff I learned; hope this helps.

Enjoy your new truck!

Default Coast to Coast

I just recently drove from AZ to FL in my 2015 3.5 ecoboost. I had approximately 650lbs of payload. My MPG was great IMO. For the entire trip (2300 miles) I averaged 17.3 MPG. I used cruise control at 5 over the posted speed limit. So mostly I was rolling at 80mph.

Default 2014 F150 Ecoboost mileage

This is my third ecoboost. First two I could get hiway mileage around 22. Went to get my third one 2014 Lariat with 6ft bed 4 door with 4wd. Sticker says 17/22. I cannot get over 17 on the freeway. Around town is about 14 to 15. Ford says use hi-octane, and that EPA test is at 55. At 55 my mileage falls way of, the sweet spot for those turbos is about 1800 rpm or 65 mph.

Ford says they do not know what is wrong. Checked the computer which is okay so it is what it is.

My feeling is this is false advertising. They bait people with ads about mileage get them to buy the truck and then do not produce.

Anybody interested in class action?

2012 FX4 Screw 5.0 3.73 - avg. 16.5 mpg (leveled with Nitto G2)

This is high traffic volume driving on a 2 lane hilly road with stop lights. Round trip commute is about 14 miles. Getting around 19 mpg on highway. I need to check my tire psi and hand calculate mpg still.

I just got mine last weekend. 2.7, 3.31 rear.
Around 600mi
At 65=24 mpg
55=28 mpg
city 21 mpg
I flowed with traffic. It is easy to get less mpg because it is ready to go fast if you just think about it. Love the pickup & sound.

I travel up and down I95 twice a week, for about 160 miles. 2014 SCab, EB with 3.73, maybe 300lbs payload. As soon as I get on the super slab I reset my mileage tracker. I cruise at 80-83 with occasional spurts to 90 or so. Have not gotten any better than 16.2 mpg. :-(

lot o' wind resistance on these trucks at those speeds. if it makes you feel any better, my 5.0 would barely break 15 at those speeds.
