The Ultimate MPG thread.

Going out traffic was light and I could go 60 without getting in the way, coming back traffic was heavy but I found some trucks going 60 and was able to get in line with them. Plus there was some construction and we were only going 45 there so that helped a lot with the mpg. Personally I try to avoid being a obstruction to traffic but if there are other people going slow then I don't feel too bad getting in a little group. 75mph.....I'm pretty sure I'd be under 20mpg or even less at that speed....get there a hell of a lot faster tho

I know there are lot of folks that use their remote start. It's been a habit drivers have practiced for decades to start the engine and let it warm up a little but today's engines really do not need to be warmed other than to make the truck more comfortable to drive in cold weather. This is one of the contributing factors of poor fuel mileage.

If it's cold outside, I want to have the heater set & the fan on so 5 minutes before I leave it will be warmed up and the choke will be kicked off.
When it hot outside I want the air conditioner set and crank it before I leave.
Not great. To just jump in and go.
Give the fluids time to pump threw the motor & transmission before you go.

What about when you go outside in the morning & the humidity is high & it's still 90*
And you break out in a sweat.
I live in SE texas if it ever stops raining we will be in that.

Why not leave and come to the piney woods of East Texas and see if we ain't got a few more trees to cool things off a tiny bit.
I've been from the border of Louisiana all way threw to Big Bend area.
And it seem the farther west you go the dryer and hotter it gets.
And a lot of the problem seems to be with less trees.
Know a lot of money lives west too in the Hill Country.

Well I thought I would share - it's not astounding or anything but I was pretty happy that I could do it…
2x 1000cc Motorbikes fuelled up, back seat of the truck filled to the headrests with gear, 2 adult males, 136L of gas in the truck ***I stop filling the tank when it clicks the first time, I do not 'get all I can in the tank'***
Calgary Alberta ---- to Vancouver British Columbia
ONE TANK OF GAS with 200 km highway still in the tank !!

Is your truck a short bed? I have the extender as well and I was wondering if I could fit my 2014 BMW GT650 Scooter in my bed with the extender

On the subject of impressive gas mileage from Calgary to Vancouver, that route is mostly downhill I believe. Wonder what the mileage would be if it was from Vancouver to Calgary?!
