I let my truck idle for long periods of time. eco boost 2013 this winter i avged 9.3 on the dash for 150 gallons since jan 1st. since it warmed up and i have been driving fast lately i am at 11.4 on the dash since yesterday. only did about 60 miles of city driving.

I have avged 24 mpg over 30 miles one way. i have gotten 15 mpg on hgihways that were huge hills and winds that were 30+. also like i said i get 9 mpg in the -10 degree weather letting it idle for long periods of time. it is better on fuel than a v8u if you use it like i do. i have other trucks and theyu will get like 7 mpg or less being used the same. the v10 will go down to 5 or 6 mpg beinmg idled a lot.

I see all kinds of post about driving your truck.
And I see that people are saying to Slow down.
When you live where the Speed limit is 75mph. If you are driving 55mph.
You may get run over. I like the speed limit at 75mph.
Only getting 18mpg at that speed. But when I'm running 75 cars and trucks are passing me like I'm running 55.
Don't understand why it takes the Auto MFG to come out with transmissions with more gears. Like 8 speeds for better fuel milage.

And a lower speed rear end like going from a 355 to a 331 ratio so the milage will increase.
Or better yet. A split axle rear end.
One for pulling and one ratio and hiway another ratio.
I think most people buy trucks because they are Rear wheel drive.
And you sit up so you can see the road ahead of you.
And when it rains hard you don't get water in your truck as fast.
And if you are in a wreck you got more metal around you.

Trucks and cars are too expensive today. And they don't last long enough for as much money as they cost.

And in the time you have them the paint seems to go bad no matter how much you wash and wax it.

Every day on my 40 mile trip to work ( all highway ) @ 60mph cruise control, I can consistently see 21.5mpg . city drliving very cautiously I can get 15.5 mpg. I'm leveled and have 295 terra grapples with 2inch spacers also. 5star 93 Oct. Tune , airaid intake, SW catless downpipes with custom side exit exhaust ( no muffler or resonator, sounds exactly like a diesel without the knocking up front lol) ,turbosmart dual Bovs, dual UPR catch cans.

new 2014 F150 STX 4x4 regular cab. 3.7L with tow package. Have not towed yet. A couple days to and from work.

Live in the sticks, and mostly highway driving. I don't do much city time.

If this improves after "break in" I will be one happy camper.

I've noticed that if I just drop off my kids and go to school (neighborhood driving and a few miles on the freeway) the truck never warms up and mpg suffers. Keep in mind that a warm engine is an efficient engine.

2014 Ecoboost Lariat 4x2 3:55
Mainly in town driving:
15-16 in the summer
14-15 in winter

M= Manual.

There is an up/down selector on the gear shift arm to "manually" shift the gears.
